He has great way of showing how to play songs and explaining about the theory of the music.
I have got sting of the guitar-bee and there ain’t no turning back anymore.
Funny story about how I got my first guitar.
Dear friend gave the guitar for me and said: you learn to play it… So I did.
Still I’m struggling with those notes and chords, but I’m inspired to learn.
Let’s move on to those caricatures of the day.
The Rock and Die Hart
“Odd-Couple Bromance”
For some reason I have seen this odd-couple in all over the internet.
Not sure is it scripted friendship or real thing, but they are doing many things together.
Still it’s bit weird that I have seen them together just in a handful of films.
Sure they have chemistry, but is it only scripted, well planned utopia for the audience?
In the movies: Jumanji and that Hobbs vs Shawn FF-spin-off, this buddy thing works like a charm.
Then there was that one central…something… don’t remember much about the film, but I did enjoy it.
What do you think?
Men In Black Is Back!
Is it Tommy Jones or Lee Jones?
Have a wild guess what movie saga I watched lately? There is always place for Mr. Tommy Lee Jones wearing black sunglasses and firm suit.
Hell yeah, no crisis so big that Kay can’t handle it. These movies are just filled with goofy characters and dialogues.
I just love the idea of MIB shadow organization taking care of business, while we are sipping café machiatto at local cafeteria.
So Matrix like vibes around this. Perhaps Wachkowskis will direct next movie called MIB-Trix.
Let’s hope not and please let the Kay return.
Coming up, Standup!
GUZ KHAN!
First time he was introduced to myself in the Taskmaster UK
Oh my oh my… some comedians have it and GUZ is one of them.
He is so unique bloke! I was watching the new season of the Taskmaster UK, when GUZ KHAN slided to my TV screen.
At first my thoughts was: Why he looks so angry all the time? Just like he started a day biting lemon.
Well no, that’s GUZ!! For some reason i find myself writing GUZ KHAN with bigger letters.
There is a reason for that… If you say name GUZ KHAN! You’ll have to shout it for some weird reason, probably those facial expressions that he has or something… He really is funny, trust me.
Now we move to the Pirate section… arr…
Captain Jack Sparrow
If you haven’t notice, next time you will…
He is carrying all kind of stuff in his hair. Every movie my focus is on his hair… that hair…
It looks like you could hide everything in that mess and probably you can.
I sure hope that Disney finds a way to make things right and pay the man.
I totally get how Johnny feels about the Disney, but high hopes on the reunion for the one last adventure of the Jack. In my opinion…
“If there is not Captain Jack Sparrow, there ain’t no reason to make a Pirates Of The Caribbean movie”
This is the truth! If Johnny don’t want to do it, don’t do it… What ever demands he has, just give it up. He is Jack for the love of the God.
This Caricature round is finished, thanks for the interest.
After a long period of time, I found a watercolor set from the drawer.
This is art form what I don’t like to do, because there is so much waiting.
If I remember right, back in the days I used to make many paintings at the same time. Others wet, others dry, rest of pieces between that, working process right?
It’s hard to do painting, when you have to thing forward all the time in the progress.
There is no shortcut to the dark colors. Normally what I’m using, is Sharpies and point pens, those are easy. If you want to make outline, you can… don’t have to wait.
Watercolor is another world of dimension.
All the technics and methods about watercolor painting, has slipped out of my memory.
Sweeping and washing techniques, has turned into just some random words in my head.
Still, I have a a feeling that painting with these were fun. Time to find a brush and give it a try.
Sure wasn’t so simple than I remembered, paint, wait, paint, wait… where’s the hair dryer?
Okay, now I have the touch… better try to do something.
Von Doom
Test number one is portrait of the Doctor Victor Von Doom. Why Doctor Doom you ask? Well, it’s easy to do, hood and mask, no matter how you messed it up, everyone who has ever read comics know who he is… from the colors and from the mask, easy to recognize like HULK.
No matter how much mess there is, you still can recognize him.
Started from the background and moved to the middle. Sounds easy?
Couple of major mistakes on the way and had to hide those by adding more layers after drying out.
There was so much things going on and paper was getting wet. I genuinely did not remembered how difficult this is.
At some point I found myself thinking: “Is there better brushes around?” Well the answer is no.
Only these kindergarten brushes are available. Have to use some pointer pens for that mask, looks like there ain’t no other way.
Moving on, let’s call this mixed technique!
Love teddy
This piece was much more fun to do than earlier.
Accidentally added those hearts tho… yeah, I almost messed this up in the beginning.
Few innocent drops of red paint to the wet paper, had to transform those in to something red, oblivious choice was heart.
This watercolor painting style is so difficult and different, but also quite fun.
Coloring the background comes so easily. This is SO MUCH faster than using pencils.
Although, again I find myself using pencils to finishing those sharp points.
This really got me thinking: “Should I buy those smaller brushes for small details?”
Let’s check the next one.
Dancing couple
First I was trying to create a desert, what a disappointment.
Had to turn it between the work, into something else. Aaaaaand here comes the drop of black color, in the middle of the paper. Of course, like gravity pulling those dropping watercolor drops in the middle of my work.
Quick research and model for dancing couple. Paper got dry when I was searching the perfect picture. Black and more black… It turned out good, for messed up work. Very next day I was standing in front of this work.
It looks okay, after all I have no idea what I’m doing.
Let’s check the next one.
Home beach.
This last one needed open space, can I do painting outside in the nature?
I walked down to the beach and started painting while kids went for swim.
This is actually the scenery of my home beach. I did spend so many hours with this piece, all the small details you see at the picture was there.
Sure it took few days to finish this and the weather changed little bit. I think that biggest problem was that I’m not enough fast.
Sure there was some annoying bees and mosquitoes but the atmosphere was very calming.
Perhaps next time I do this with pencils.
If you have never tried to paint outside, I strongly recommend it. Feels like therapy session.
Conclusion: Watercolor paintings are not for me. Too much waiting and I really don’t know how to do those sharp lines.
Maybe someday I’ll find better brushes and give it a chance, but for now I’m done with this.
All due respects to those who know how to create unique art with watercolor!
There was a time when I was standing on the squiggly line before in front yard of the shopping mall.
First change to test 8bit NES. It was stand alone demo machine, where you could test the game about 5 minutes.
Those 5 minutes after hours of waiting, was totally worth it. I thought that gaming of my lifetime will begin now, on this day!
If entertainment systems at home can be so beautiful and easy to use as the NES, we should never again have to eat lunch between C64 game cassette loading screen. (Go ask you dad)
This is literally “GAME CHANGER”… for a life !
I was blown away, when I was aiming with that orange light pistol and those ducks were dropping from the air.
Humans have evolved to the level, that anything is possible now!
Well poor kid from poor family of drunks, sure didn’t get the console, but I was using that demo version at the shopping mall, everysingleday after school.
Because of the time limit, you had to get better and faster on the progress and I did.
My god, I was fast after month, but then I reached some kind of end of demo and got tossed around all the way to the beginning.
King of shopping mall was born!
It took time when I actually had a chance to play the game, but I already knew something bout the game.
Enough of that, back to the topic.
Bought Minecraft game for kiddo, because every friend of his was gaming it.
Kiddo started to play it, I started to draw it…
What the Fox say?
There was something hypnotic in this open world game, those blocks around blocks looks familiar… “That’s a fox, that’s a pig”, I’m shouting and pointing to the screen while drawing this block inspired fox.
Although I have already played the games which are visually stunning, movie like masterpieces…
Getting so inspired from game like this is not an option for me anymore, sure I do remember that kid from the mall who was blown away, but “water has floated in the river” after that.
Twist coming up?!?
ZOMBIE ATTACK!!!
Zombies? Well, zombies are always the next logical step in movie business, but this one I did not expect. First you were walking in the woods, cutting wood and rocks.. Oh there’s a bunny rabbit, cow, pig and Zombie? What’s next, walking skeleton army? Haw haw!!!
*Arrow hits to the target*
Skeleton, because why not?
Oh come on, did you just got shot by a skeleton? This is getting so ridiculous that it amuses me.
Still it’s hard to understand why to do game where is only blocks after blocks…? Is this really that interesting? Hard to tell, because I have played early games, where you was the left/right moving block shooting tiny blocks against the big square blocks, which exploded after the successful hit to a smaller blocks.. AND IT WAS AWESOME!!
Also there was no open world or levels, everything just moved faster until you eventually DIED!
This is why, I’m not interested about block games anymore. It’s visual and filled with stuff but nah…
Hold on, what’s that?
Black block stealing what so ever…
This goofy fellow had a name, but I don’t remember it anymore. Let’s call him: “Black block stealing what so ever”
You can dug holes and find something or not, then you can go fishing, but must aware the water-zombie. Best way to get some wish is to wait in somewhere…
Sorry lad, you lost me there. I have born in Finland and this country LIVES on standing in the line. I want absolutely ZERO waiting in games, sorry.
Weird thing is that we are always waiting in line here Finland.
In kindergarten they teach kids to stand in the line, when you are going out to play. Also you stand in line, when you are waiting for food.
Same thing continues at the school. You are only good person if you can stand in line without goofing around.
At army, marching in straight line, waiting food in line etc, etc…
It’s literally everywhere in our lives, shops, banks, you name it.
Modern people like me, needs also information where to stand. Sure you have seen it? (STAND HERE) (WAIT HERE) (KEEP 1m DISTANCE) or those painted foot prints that n the floor.
“Oh there is new iPhone on sale” let’s all get in the line!
Guilty! I was standing in the line waiting to play shopping mall demo NES.
I’m still trying my best not to go in lines.
Morning traffic is one stupid example. Everyone wants to start working at 7am, meaning must leave from home, little bit before that LIKE EVERYONE ELSE.
Then standing in the line with car, letting the road rage spoil your morning. Funny thing, looks like everyone is doing this.
I found solution to this problem, my work day starts 7.15am and trust me not, there ain’t no traffic at all. I do not have to stand in line at once.
Groceries store has found a great way to help people like me. Those wonderful self checkout machines which you can you without standing in line.
Ordering robots in burger joints, where you can order and pay without line standing.
Internet/apps so you can order food or you can make an appointment.
After all that, I found myself standing in line waiting my turn to get my turn in voting booth.
Have a great day and don’t forget to shut your mouth when standing in line next time.
Ahoy! Sketching table on the starboard! More drawings abaft..Arr..
My sketching table is filled with everything I see, feel, hear, and watch.
Life turns to the sketches so easily, for example:
“You watch your favorite TV-show” Well in my case, I’m also sketching at the same time.
My head is filled with ideas and it’s mess up there, I’m living in the inspiration zone and that makes focusing to something specific hard sometimes.
If I’m multitasking, it gets easier. Watching movie while drawing sketches is the most effective way to see the flick.
There is also minor problem with this behavior, meetings are kinda tricky, because if I don’t get my chance to draw, my imagination starts to flow like hell.
Sure there is also problem at the modern world, career focused bosses don’t understand this kind of behavior in the meetings. Also my kind of people who are visionary, get suffocated many times a day. But it’s okay, career life needs to be boring and using imagination or creativity in work is super rare.
To my offense, I must say.. when I’m drawing at the meetings, Zooms, etc… I do remember everything because I can focus so much better. This method must activate some areas from brains, that makes you almost superhuman.
Be sharp, here we go!
Brainstorm example 1.
This sheet is great example of bit everything..
Let me explain myself.
First I started to draw a Ninja, simple Ninja because I saw Batman Lego on the table. Idea twisted to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Raphael with his blade. Because Raphael is old name, David popped to my head and Jesus… so I must add Ninja-Jesus. (Makes sense?)
Some point kiddo started to watch SpongeBob. (That cartoon is TURBOBOOST weirdness) Colors and small things just pops to the sides, like the fill up.
Easy task when you’re watching cartoon, where squirrel in space-suit in in the bottom of the sea, having a bonfire. (WTF?)
Then Scream movie trailer takes me to the skulls and moonshine. Don’t ask me why.
Cup of coffee makes me think about donuts and donut reminds me about: “mmm…donuts…” This is just an example about the brainstorming at the sketch table.
Moving on to the next sketch.
The little tentacles
I mean the mermaid of course.
This came from the soundtrack of the movie little mermaid. (Yes I listen movie soundtrack music) again one great way to active your brains and memory. Try it out, works unbelievable well. Pretty much every movie has soundtrack and If you use playlists like I do, your movie memories makes you travel through the time..
In some point there was a trailer on TV about the documentary “After Porn Ends” next one was Mandalorian or Boba Fett and so those influenced strongly to the sketch.
In my opinion these kind of sketching is like you add some spices to your paper from around you.
This works great in crowded areas, city centers, museums etc…
Moving on.
Dawn of the homer
There was an episode in Simpsons where good people of Springfield turned to Zombies.
Favorite part of the episode was where Homer shot Flanders in the face with shotgun… The family voice their surprise that he killed the zombie Flanders, to which Homer responds, "He was a zombie?"
Great writing must say, stay creative.
Pocahontas what so ever.
This got influenced from the caricature I was planning to do.
I was testing the jawline, eyes and that pose for the Tomb raider caricature.
This is so called: “Test round” if you look close enough, you’ll see the hair, which already has Tomb Raider vibes.
Especially when I’m just thinking about the next caricature, these pops out many. Sometimes these sketches are way cooler than final piece.
Brainstorming tips for you.
Don’t let paper block your imagination and no matter how stupid it feels, just keep goin.
It’s not meant be anything, so you can’t fail.
Listen relaxing music, let children play close to you, watch outside and TV.
TV-channel which has the most commercial, is the best.
TV feed and music feeds ideas to your subconsciousness and those small things turns easily to the great art.
That’s all for this day, try to be creative people and let the imagination take you to the places.
