Get set, ready, grow!

Gardening has always been close to my heart, food which you have planted and watched grown is something else.
Hard to explain if you haven’t done it.

When you’re cooking outdoors with open fire, the method takes you closer to your ancestors and roots.

Mother Earth gives a lot easy food if you are ready to put some effort to it.

Potatoes, carrots and onions are great example.
I am also growing sun flowers and marigold flowers.
Sunflower are for the bugs of all sort, you know pollinators.

I read from some gardening book the fact that told: “when the last bumblebee dies, humans have only months left before extinction”
Makes you think about surroundings, right?

This garden bench has also leek and kale.
Here I have herbs and salad, this system on the pallets is just because I like to collect those close to the summer kitchen.

There is also few different beans coming up.

Beans are great source of protein, believe me or not.
Growing boxes are great way to grow salad and rucola, if you like to have them without harmful weed.
I also have lots of watercress and chives close to the cooking place.

Herbs are must have close to you if you use them while cooking.

Kids love this pallet system, because they can collect breakfast herbs and salad for the plate straight from the garden.

Sure, summer has only started here and it takes some time.

Rhubarb is luckily growing pretty fast and the bush doesn’t mind if you eat it while it’s growing.

About month and I can start eating straight from the ground and I just can’t wait the moment when fresh berries are ready.

My definitely favorites are wild raspberry and red currant.

Those I have so much that I can freeze ‘em for the next winter.

Then of course end of the summer offers cloudberries, blueberries amd lingonberry.

Yours. “Organic chef” Jay
