Sketchbook and sketching table is such a mess!

You could say: “sketchbook is gateway to the insides of your head”

I’ve been drawing since I started to hold pen in my hand, I could barely write but sketching has always been around.

I remember how agitated my father was, because I did my drawings everywhere… I mean EVERYWHERE.

Old milk cartons, sugar boxes, letters, wrapping papers, literally everything with surface was mine to draw.

Sure someone could say; “why didn’t you use paper?” Well, poor families have to make a choice: “Will we buy bread or paper” LOL!😂

Artists will always find the ways to express themselves. Trust me, I’m walking example. But why oh why, my sketch table is full of these weird drawings? Dunno but, these pieces come out to the daylight when I’m watching TV or doing something way different than drawing itself.

“Most of the art is stolen” perhaps, and I don’t think it’s a bad thing. Lately I’ve read a book called: “Steal Like An Artist” written by Austin Kleon.

This book made me thinking: “Is everything what I sketch from somewhere else?” Probably but it does not bother me. Art is art and when you’re sketching without the meaning, it means your brains are collecting and using data which you have seen or feel…Right? Does this make any sense?

I’m quite sure that every drawing I have ever made has influence from somewhere which I have seen earlier.

Here is the collection from the sketchbook:

Mess is messy right? Long story short, I like to sketch. When I’m drawing sketches my brains go into the “super-mode” and I hear and see everything.

For example:

If I’m at the lecture and I’m sketching the whole time, I remember EVERYTHING… Even the small things. On the other hand, If I’m at the lecture and I’m just taking notes, it feels like I’m listening astrophysics and I do lost my interest super fast. Then my mind starts wondering at the audience around me or in the auditorium. I might be thinking what would I eat at home or which is the best way to home this time a day.. I can watch birds flying outside or clock ticking etc.. anything else but the lecture.

Probably some of you still remember the time when we had those old phones in the hallway… there was a small paper for notes, but usually it was full of ink circles… remember?

Millennials probably don’t remember but I do.

Yours. “Sketcher” Jay
