Tattoo globe flower

“Ta-Ta” twisted way like Hannibal Lecter says.

Sat down with my machines and did some trimming.

Can’t believe how fast time goes and you notice it’s way over midnight, all of tattoo guns are in small pieces at your table..

Well I can’t be the only one who loves to mix and tune those beautiful tools, or am I..?

– Globe flower coverup –

“I want Globe flower” for hiding this old spider-tattoo. That’s what she said…

Time for research, in to the field were I could find these beautiful flowers. Shitloads of pictures were taken in every shape and angles…

 back to the studio table.

This spectacular yellow flower was a mouthful because, hiding black tattoo with yellow flower was not quite simple as it sounds..

– Stencil –

Picture had to be so big, and the spider was gone. Easy to apply because shoulder blade is so nice area to do my magic..

– Making of –

7Round liner 14round liner and 13MG Shader was used in this piece..

Tried to make outlines bit more soft and left some spots “open” …

Bit “oldie” -style but not too much, flower looks right and colors match, black/grey areas are for hiding the old tattoo…

Huge area to color but she took it well, nice job!

– What I learned..? –

First of all, the biggest mistake were leaving those outlines open.

After making outlines I realized that it won’t work and I had to close ’em with my shader..

My mentor also told that biggest faulse was those lines and that style fits better to black/grey tattoos… Can’t argue, I’m wiser now.

Next time when I’m making work like this I’m going to stick up in strong outlines…

Maybe for future I would use way more different kind picture, more leafs and I would stamp those leafs straight to the top of  spider..

Doing so, spider would be covered for less work and flower would have more brightness.

I did tune up my machines for this session and one of my liner machines didn’t work like I wanted. The tube was not giving Ink and needle felt just wrong.. I’m twisting angle to my needles usually before using but angle was like others, probably armature bar problem what must be investigated…

Looks like every session teaches me so many things… I used Intenze colors for this piece and I’m thrilled to test something new next time.

That’s the end for this one, to the next step and next session… Oh and that featured picture is my new hand tattoo made by my awesome and talented mentor.

To the next time bye!

Small and pretty, like me..!

Time has gone by and I can almost taste the end of summer. I’ve been doing many small tats lately and have to say, it’s challenging every time.

Names and birthstones

This dame got one spectacular idea: “Names and birthstones” Hell, I havent even heard about birthstones before and had to do some epic investigation stuff before could start even sketching…

Stencil were easy to apply because the place was flat, no need for silkpaper.

“Stones” was only few straight lines and I made ’em with my shader.

Making of…

I was using 7Round liner and 9MgShader. Colors had to mix like she wanted.

What I learned…?

First of all, stencil for pictures like this should always make with “sharpies” and freehand style.

Decorating lines could also be much bigger giving the smoothness for the whole pic.

Perhaps next time I would even use a smaller needle for some special turns, 3Round liner could be nice, and tattoo would have more deep illusion.

Don’t forget to do “bloodline” like my mentor always says!

Big feather

She wanted a blue feather to the hand. Really specific about what kind and what color.

Had to use silkpaper so I could turn this right way from inside out.

Normal paper won’t work and stencil goes blurry easily, trust me..

Making of…

Stencil placed and ready to go. 7Round liner, 13Mg shader and 9Flat shader for tight spots. This time I made whole picture “bloodline” and blacks using (10% Black 90%H2O) mix.

It was really much more easier to start adding blacks and contrast when bloodline were down under.

Colors that I used were from Intenze this time. Outline black, peach, green and different tones of blue. Mixed up all colors with water and white.

Of course all the trimming and details I made with white using 7Round shader.

What I learned…?

The greatness of the bloodline!

No need to say how important it is to do shades and lines with enough light mixture and add the darker shades after.

Sure I knew this earlier but now I’m starting to realize what my teacher/mentor has always meant…

Enough for this time, thanks for reading…

Sincerely yours: Jay

Ink life! Can’t get better…

Hooya whores and hounds..!

Time has gone by and I’ve been at studio most of my time.. [INK LIFE] for me it means doing and takin tats, hell that’s pretty much all I do…

D.O.N & Daisies… Pretty idea eh?

Brought this one to the table when she told the meaning of the word “DON” and that she loved Daisies… That’s where this idea got wings.

She absolutely loved it and so did I. Stencil although didn’t went like I was planning but no matter, sharpie did the rest.

Making of…

7Round liner & 7Mg shader was all needed in this one. Colors of course simple and the whole pic simple as possible…

Hypnotic “oldie” snake..

This epic piece was for my trusted mechanic who brought me an idea of the oldie cobra. After tons of changes, I’ve got the illusion in this snake eyes that if you stare it you’ve got your eyes crossing really fast. So much fun doing this, enjoyed every minute of it..

Making of…

7Round liner, 9Flat shader, 14Round liner, and 7Flat shader were used in this one and colors are from very special “Oldie-color” set.

Brazilian snowman in Arctic Circle..?

Well this is story to tell… Kiddo’s Capoeira instructor/professor wanted to have an angry snowmen on his arm with the Finland & Brazilian twist. That’s what he said, and got. Idea went for the sideways multiple times but got it together in time. Wonderful piece still missing blacks but epic already, finish this soon.

Making of…

7Round liner, 9Round shader, 13Mg shader were used when I made this beauty. Pain was bit too much for finishing this but hey, there is always next time…

Skull and flames coverup…

Coverup tattoo is always tricky thing to do but this spectacular sharpie piece was totally worth it. So much lines and flames so I could hide the 90’s tribal from the beginning of this skull and I nailed it good time.

Making of….
Few hours of Sharpie action first and then we are ready to start. 7round liner and 13Mg shader were only thing that I needed in this one.

Tattoo life…?

Of course you have to chill and relax sometimes…

Like my bro has teach me… Simple Man from YouTube, smoke Cuban and drink Scotch.

We are all good now right, C-Ya people…! (Fades away with Lynyrd Skynyrd)…

Drawing “Oldies…”

Yeah, my biggest favorit thing these day is drawing Old school sketches. Don’t know where the main idea came from but I just realize my hidden talent with these. I’ve been always drawing caricature pictures of people and this “oldie” style is quite like it.

This eagle is different than the original but it didn’t change too much, deep colors and lots of attitude.. Stencil making was simple, I just marked the outlines and everything else were colored.. Needles were 14round liner and 7flat shader. Oh, yeah and 7round liner I did use on the head area… Turned out radical eh?

Muttley the dog
from wacky racers.. Hah, this was so much fun to do. Only thing I remembered about that cartoon was the laugh of Muttley. If I’m not wrong he was good dog even that he was working for that evil dude.. To the picture yeah, stencil work was tricky and had to use my sharpest pencil. Crazy twist of this sketch was Catalonia’s flag that I hide to the Muttley’s “clothes. Needles I used: 9round shader, 7round liner, 13magnum shader.

Next one was starter plug for guy who is… Surprise! a mechanic. Fun idea, one plug for every kiddo. Stencil making was fast, only few outlines and we’re ready to go. Needles for this session choosed to be 14round liner, 9flat shader, and 13 magnum shader…

Coat of arms
. This epic dude has ordered this for his family…family coat of arms you could say. Of course fanatic football fans will love this MUFC tribute right..?

To the next time, thanks for reading…

Here we go again people…!

Buddy showed up to my crip and told me he’s pissed of with this tribal he had back in the 90’s Ready “flash-pic” and were down for that…

This time I tried new “silk-paper” which was SOOO good to use in this kind tricky area. Easy startup because picture was ready, only thing was found the right size. Needles for this session were: 7round liner, 7flat shader and ink was Tribal outlining Ink and tribal black ink for coloring.

Stencil done and started to work. Shading and bloodline first and last step was outlines and whites.

After few hours to work tattoo is ready.. Didn’t do much to that old tribal because it was in great position, next time perhaps something small, shades stuff etc..

I’m happy with the result… Keep you posted soon C-ya!

Some sort of addiction…

Tattoos has been my lifestyle since -1999 that’s the year when i took my first ink. After this i’ve been takin more and more, never enough. Nowadays my Tattoo artist has tattootime for me Once in month. I book the whole year after new years eve, that’s been my style last few years… and yes you are right! I’ve got lots of ink in my skin and more to come of course.

Most common question is:

What about your work, how can you work?!?

Just like before i was tatted, no one in my job career has ever had second though because i have ink in my skin.. And believe me or not but in my dayjob I’m only tattooed one. No-one actually cares because they all know:

Maybe in some workplaces it’s still all about skin color but in time that will change I think. (Yeah, I always pull out my “Skin-color-racist-card” when needed).

Future plan…

I’m just learning to use all what’s given to me and yes, I do have 10-years plan…*Secrets*
Airbrushing for change…

Last evening I made custom paint job to my skateboard helmet..

It will keep my head safe for now…

(Random person)

-what you’re going to do with your tattoos when you are older?!?

-Dunno mate, perhaps I just grow up an epic grey beard and hang out with my tattooed friends and generally just LOOK FAKIN AWESOME!!! What about you when you look like every other old tard?

To the next time weirdos! c-Ya!

*Dropps the mic*

Join to the dark side. . .

Epic Sleeve project begins…

Star wars has so many fans around the globe and on came to me. Lord Vader he wants and that’s were we start. In Future we will add some more cool Star Wars stuff like Death star, Tie fighter, sandpeople etc… It will be Dark side theme probably in whole sleeve.

Making of. . .

Small changes had to do. lightsaber were twisting too much to left and place needed to go more to the center. Original pic was good but sword hand had to change. Now it stands straight and will be great starting place for this big Star Wars theme sleeve. (7Flat shader and 9Round shader) were used during this project. Only color is black, hint of white and green to the details… Sure there was one “Wow-Factor” in this work and that’s so called black light ink, red was this color and I added it to the lightsaber, glow in front of vader, buttons in suit, that’s it.. All the rest is black!

Place to tat was good to work because streching is easy on this area, shading was hard thing to do and  this close to wrist it’s kind painful after short while.

What I learned. . ?

After this one I know so many things… Stencil is definitely most important part of this and marking all those black places matters most.

“Don’t underestimate the power of the dark side”

Thats all for now… C-Ya!

Butterfly or something else…

For change you have to hide something in front of everything. She came to me and told: “No flower but also no butterfly, something between those you know?”  Well I sure do. This kinda pics are perfect for the leg of a women, it’s not massive and it looks nice…

What a great place to work, streching was easy to do and setting up was easy to do.. Also it’s not painful area for to tattoo and almost everyone can handle it. Colors were green white mixing and also yellow. Stencil was simple to do, only outlines and right size… (9round Shader) and (7flat shader) for colors/shades. (7round liner) for outlines and I was ready to go.

What I learned. . ?

Well for the next time I’ll maybe use little more less outlines. This kind piece also needs some different colors to outline and there it’s easier to shade back to other colors. Maybe also shades outside this pic would work nicely. It’s enough for now…
To the next learning process he goes. . .

Zodiac signs. . .

Tattoos and horoscope!

Almost everyone has thought idea of your own sign inked to your body and why not? It’s good idea, c’mon admit it..! Myself? Nah… I’ve got so boring zodiac sign that i don’t even bother. This dude was bringing me this idea and i’m not saying it was bad but it could be better… From the world wide web came this pic, but in the end he changed it to way different one and it worked so much better! Small changes and i was thinking: “This could work”…  Let’s do it.. In the end there is no need to do bad picture if you can do better right..? it stays in skin forever! Dark mystic picture with small details I was so ready for this.
Stencil. . .

Really easy one to make this stencil, outlines, shading points, “memory” places and we’re ready to givea try.. Under shoulder he wanted so that’s were we are going, stencil-stuff under and placing in the middle of shoulder. First try and it was perfect he says… 15min to dry and in this point I will set up my place and guns, thank you very much… *Clapping*

Making of. . .

(7Round liner) for outlines, (7Flat mg shader) for shading… Colours (Ruby red), (Snow white) and (Tribal black) in this special piece I also tried first time so called: “Outline black-ink” I started from the bottom and moved up. Shading and outlining was made at the same time, just changed tattoo-gun when needed. In shading I was using (Maori black) and water mug where I dipped needle to get the perfect grey wash and different tones. Place was shoulder and that’s one of my favorite places to tattoo, again because it’s so easy to stretch and almost painless area to tattoo.. He was taking it well and he was not a “bleeder” this picture was ready at the first shot.

It looks awesome, red was the final touch and of course all those white details. He was very happy to this tattoo and why not, it looks cool. Dark and mystical creature, right place and right person… Fits well and attitude is awesome!

What I learned. . ?

Making of that stencil, every single time I make more memory lines and stuff but more is needed. When using my “home-made” stencil-stuff I have to remember to shake it well…
And also when using this “Stencil-stuff” less is more.. It needs only small amount of stuff and it works, if too much it goes blurry and… Well big mess. Outlining and shading at the same time works perfectly in this kinda works because if you only do outlines. there is a danger to rub stencil of when shading and that I don’t like!

Inked person position. . .

I have to say it depends so much of that what you are doing. If there is lots of things to do it’s maybe nicer to lay down than sit.. I like both, doesn’t matter at all. Perhaps littlebit easier to stretch is inked one in sitting down.
Thanks again and I’ll keep y’all posted.. BOOM!

For the name of Gotham…

Some people loves masked heros, this one had old Bat-logo in her arm. She absolutely adores Batman and told me story about her dad. Dad is her hero and they share the “Batman-Love”… That’s how these stories are born. “Father is my hero” she said and wanted to tattoo that using some cool font and only black. I did take this little bit to the “hero-factor”… What if we do sound blast what they were using in 60’s Batman and write that “hero” part inside of it..? She loved the idea and we are ready to go, let’s see what’s coming next… (Old Batman theme)

The only thing where stencil were used was font and outlines of that cloud… Rest were free handed.

Dad is my hero” translation “Isi on mun sankari”

Making of…

Simple little thing to do, (7Round liner and 9Round shader) no need to do shading.. Outlines and colours simple so it looks like in cartoons.

For sure I can say that cool idea from someone, and story matching ’em together can easily be something small like this. Usually I’m saying that bigger is better but not in this case. Funny part about this one was the dads reaction when he heard that story and saw this tattoo.. Those kind reactions are those what makes me happy.

To the next time people, C-YA..!

Rub it off eh..?

This time I like to share something about stencil and making of. Usually I first think what I’m able to do with stencil and what I will “Freehand” using sharpies.

When I started doing tats I was using just normal copy paper and Spirit master transfer paper…

Pretty soon from beginning I did realize that normal copy paper works on small pics and if there straight area in human body. Problems started to rise when tattooing tricky areas, paper was way too “hard” and I have to think something new and fresh. First idea was baking paper! Well that didn’t work at all… “To the paper store” Thank god there was person working who actually knew lots of things about those papers they were selling. After few choices the final one was called “silk paper” very cheap, flexible and so thin. “Perfect for my purpose”  was the first thought…

Back to studio and call to my “test human” it worked perfectly, even tricky areas because paper is so flexible.

Next problem was pencil, it had to penetrate three layers of paper to get it right. Metallic inside from normal ballpoint pen was perfect to this. Wooden pencil was not good for this use.

Wooden pencil was too soft and sharpie had same problem, some of those ballpoint pens were also not enough sharp but after while I found perfect ones…

In beginning Dettol was only thing I used. Not so long ago I crashed to a new problem. Making tattoo was going great but rubbing of the stencil was the main reason to think: “Is there any other way?”

Why not to make own, is it even possible?

Chit-chat with other artists and I see that this is universal problem…hmm… To the worldwide web!

Home-made stencil stuff… Why not?

After searching web I did found some interesting ideas what’s worth of trying.

Mixing Dettol, melted deo-stick, 100% Aloe gel and it was ready for testing. After using this method, problem was gone. Littlebit home-made stencil-stuff and waiting about 10min stencil to dry. Stencil don’t rub of when making tattoo!!! great success!

What I learned?

This thing works like a charm but stencil has to be in right place at first try because this method will stick stencil so hard… Perfect for making portrait style pics where is lots of details. Also I started to make tattoo from down to up or side to side… Why? Well you don’t wash of the area what’s still inprogress.

To the Bat cave studio… Next time people!

To the bat cave…. Studio… Next time people!
