Found a QUARANZINE

zines

In Finland we don’t hug trees, we tackle them..

(former Scrum player nr.1) aka “meat head”

WOWZA!! I did found one cartoon zine from the time, when we just had Covid-19 madness getting started.

There was the toilet paper hoarding going on, and we almost run out of it…NOT!

People around this country panicked super fast and that’s the reason for this zine.

Check it out!

Page 5.
This was the point for no return..
“NO BACKSIES” like we tend to say.

I was so surprised when grocery store was swarming with people in panic, buying toilet paper.

Hard to understand because there were absolutely zero change that we would run out of toilet paper.

Nearly two-thirds of Finland is blanketed by thick woodlands, making it the most densely forested country in Europe.

And we make toilet paper, so yeah..
I did not hoard paper and still got my ass wiped.

Moving on..

It’s weird thing what we Homo Sapiens react like citizens of Springfield.
(The Simpsons)
Someone just says something and in no time, you have the WHOLE city walking with wooden sticks and torches in hand, ready to act.

Media has unbelievable influence for masses, must say.

What a fun piece to find, when quarantine time is just old memory back in my head.

Felt like I found some old diary, because it’s easy to ride by the memory lane, using art as your imagination tool.

I think that digging in these drawers, is new fun thing to do.. perhaps next time I will check old diaries.

Stay safe!

Yours. Jay

There might be something groundbreaking in this scrapbooking, small comics.

If you have never try it, I highly recommend to do it.

It’s so easy to understand the beauty of minimalist work.

There is so little space between those pages.

You’ll have to think before, adding the story.
Folding the book.
In that video you can see how satisfying is this folding activity.

In a blink, paper turns to a small book.
Cover of the book
Some people say to us Zine artists, that waste of time.
For my opinion, any art is NO WASTE OF TIME.

You just have to believe in what you’re doing, sure I know there is almost zero change to get super famous or rich.

I tend to say, it’s not about the money… sure it helps, but when you can influence even one person with your doing, it’s worthy.

Just make people feel happy and yourself in the process, that must be something right?

Let’s get on the pages.
Pages 1 & 2
This time the idea was to make a scary and bloody version of the Casper, but somehow it turned to this cute little bastard.
Pages 3 & 4
The ghost and it’s friends…

Which are better friends than spiders and bats?

Original bloodier version had the Vampire biting veins, this is close enough.

Spider was so much more wicked and blood thirsty than this final version.

Sometimes these dark minded stories takes a flip inside my head and turn in the children stories.

Although I have read many fairytale and trust me on this, if you take those happy endings away, you got pretty horrible stories.

To the next pages!
Pages 5 & 6
This was originally the day of the death quote.

The Day of the Dead (el Día de los Muertos), is a Mexican holiday where families welcome back the souls of their deceased relatives for a brief reunion that includes food, drink and celebration.

You’ll get the point with Pedro and candies.
The end..?
Everything must end, even Halloween.

Currently we live in the world where Jamie Lee Curtis finally got Michael dead and that was Oscar worthy stuff!

Zine making is so much fun, if you don’t believe me, try it yourself and create something unique.

There is plenty of room in the void!

Yours. Jay

Horror and ZINE!

zines
This one is for all those good ’Ol movie fans!
Horror movies, has always touched my heart more than chick flicks, or drama movies.

This next zine is a good starting list, if you want to watch old horror.
Of course these old flicks are nothing compared at modern horror, but the atmosphere in these movies is just astounding.
Have to admit, those product years I had to check from the IMDB.

Take a seat and check these old flicks.. I’m quite sure that you will find something unseen.

VAMPYR (1932)

“Traveler Allan Gray arrives in the village of Courtempierre and takes lodgings in a small inn. Gray has a great interest in the supernatural, particularly vampires. He’s barely settled in when he feels a sinister force descending upon him. In the night an old man enters his room to tell him ‘she must not die’. One of the old man’s daughters, Leone, has been bitten by a vampire. In order to break the curse, Gray and Leone’s sister Gisele must find the original vampire and drive a stake through her heart.

the Bride of Frankenstein is LGBTQ+ origins…wait what?

In Mary Shelley’s original novel, Frankenstein, the creature demanded his creator forge a companion after being rejected. Although in Shelley’s original story, the monster’s companion never saw completion, for the sequel to 1931’s Frankenstein movie, Universal decided to bring his “mate” to life and see this idea to full fruition.

“I’ll suck your blood..”

Transylvanian vampire Count Dracula bends a naive real estate agent to his will, then takes up residence at a London estate where he sleeps in his coffin by day and searches for potential victims by night.

“THEY GOT BARBARA!”

A ragtag group of Pennsylvanians barricade themselves in an old farmhouse to remain safe from a horde of flesh-eating ghouls that are ravaging the East Coast of the United States.
“One of the silent era's most influential masterpieces, Nosferatu's eerie, gothic feel and a chilling performance from Max Schreck as the vampire”
“Three go-go dancers holding a young girl hostage come across a crippled old man living with his two sons in the desert. After learning he's hiding a sum of cash around, the women start scheming on him. Three strippers seeking thrills encounter a young couple in the desert.
This was so fun Zine to make, had to do some research for those long forgotten movies.

Worthy to hop on to the memory lane.

Have a good one!

Yours. Jay

Punkzines from good ‘ol punk rocker

lettering, punkzines
Hey y’all punkzine, zine, scrapbooking, bullet jornaling, diary making, ransom writing, mini comics lovers and smallpress writers out there!

Here we go again…

There was a time between the social distancing and quarantine routines, where I did lot’s of scrapbooking called PUNKZINE!

Yeah, I really don’t know is it a thing, but country where I live, it’s not.
Well maybe some underground scenes, but I haven’t met many people who shares this passion with me.

It is therapeutic thing to cut letters and pictures to these small comics.
If you are trying to find out, is there anything what makes sense, I can tell you, no… nothing makes sense.

Let’s see the first two episodes of my punkzine magazines.
Cover
All the headlines were about those innocent people, who were traveling and they were demonized..
THEY WILL BRING THE DECEASE TO YOU!
Page 1.
Can’t argue, we all were so very scared, but mostly because of the media.
It was really difficult time to find news without spreading virus.
Page 2.
After one year, everyone were suddenly rich?!?
Well I sure was not, but most of working class heroes, were buying cabins and using money like no tomorrow..
No holiday—->equals shitton of money.

Wait what?
Page 3.
Finns started to use lots of more alcohol at home, because bars were closed and Finns are famous drinkers I’ll give you that.

My personal drinking habits didn’t change.

Bottle of wine, here and there.
Sometimes few special beers from small brewery’s and of course Rum.
Now when written, sounds a lot.
Page 4.
Oh the hobbies..

“I started to play Ukulele”
“I started to learn new language”

And the list goes on… that’s a good thing, for my point of view.

More creativity and more time means more hobbies.

Well I still suck at my choices, poor bastard.
Page 5.
MORE PETS, MORE RENOVATIONS!!!

Thank god, I didn’t got any pets.

After the lockdown, I absolutely don’t have time for those love little poochies.

Renovations needs money and skills.
Hard pass!
Page 6.
Sad but true, many pets were killed.
Happy ending?
Page 7.
Eh… New equipment for the digital solutions?

I might have stepped to this trap myself.

On the bright side, my internet speed is SO FAST!

No matter how many Zooms are going on while someone is streaming movies and playing games online.

Next number of the punkzine magazine is about (HAND WASHING)

Let me introduce it.
Cover
Like told, this is about hand washing routines.

I haven’t used so much soap or hand sanitizer in my entire life before this.

After all, you get used to it.
Page 1.
My thoughts were in India at this moment, there was some documentary about how much people lives there and damn.. that was insane.

If we had problems in this small country in Europe, they had it many times more.

Makes me still sad when I’m thinking all those big countries.
Page 2.
There was some wise guy who said: “use Evian” for hand washing..

Oh stupidity, that’s just great idea.

“AND THE STUPIDEST IDEA PRICE GOES TO..”
Page 3.
If we are having a competition about who gets the most effective stupid way, here it is.

You’re welcome.
Page 4.
By now, it gets bit dark.

Sometimes when you battle with your inner demons, this is what you get.
Page 5.
Oh the irony of the government’s solution sometimes.

“Humor negro” one of my friends said to me, when I was making this.

Yes indeed, but handling difficult things NEEDS someone who points the absurd solutions to you.

Handle with care!
Page 6.
After all, I mean no harm and disrespect.

I’m just dark and my humor is twisted.
It was horrible times and that time influenced my art.

Maybe I should keep this locked inside the drawer, but anarchistic inside of me demands release.

I survived, but so many did not.
That’s no joke, my art is therapy for myself and perhaps it gives way to you how to release a tension in your wicked mind..

We all are little bit derailed from the after these horrible times.
Perhaps we still have hope and redemption, after all..

Like uncle Marley sang:
“Don’t you worry about a thing, cause every little things gonna be alright..”

He ain’t really my uncle, but I can relate to the song.

Keep your heads up people, better times are coming…

Yours. Jay
